A New Year

January was a busy month. Ke'akua is getting bigger and bigger (at his 4mo appt he weighed in at 16lbs and 26 1/4 inches long) and we have been practicing sitting on our own, growing our two front teeth, rolling over and celebrating Ted's, Papa's and Yasone's birthdays. We also got to hang out with our buddy Olive Boyd and Uncle Tasi came back to town to celebrate Papa's birthday with us.

Rolling over??

Ted's birthday with Bart and Jan.

Papa's birthday gift.

Hanging out with Uncle Tasi before he heads back to Vegas.

Our first trip to Moscow, Idaho....Go Vandals!

In December we headed up North to Moscow for my cousin Yasone's graduation. It was a fun-filled trip and as we drove into the palouse Ted and I broke out in song:

Came a tribe from the North, brave and bold
Bearing banners of Silver and Gold
Tried and true, to subdue all their foes...(come on sing it with me!)....

Of course Ke'akua loved every minute of that trip and despite not being able to visit The Club, he was glad to be able to see the town where Ted and I first met....

See how excited he was....sleeping AGAIN!

Oktoberfest '08 - Guten Tag!

We hosted our 4th Annual Douglai Oktoberfest party in November this year, after getting a few things around the house settled. As always it was a good time by all. Ted dressed in his leaderhosen and Ke'akua got to meet all of our friends and their families.
At 6 weeks old, Ke'akua had his first sleepover at Papa and Amuma's. He did well...but mom and dad not so much!

The First Three Weeks...

The first three weeks Ke'akua was a part of life, we were a little out of sorts. Not only due to being new parents but also because we were going back and forth between my parents' place in Emmett and Bart and Jan's. Looking back though, it was so nice to have family near by during those first few weeks...

Here are some pictures of the time leading up to when we were able to move back into our place.

His first Halloween and on his way to the Reagan's...sleeping again! :)

September 2008

On the eve of Ke'akua's birthday, The Douglass family and I had enjoyed a nice evening out to celebrate Karleigh's 29th birthday. That night was similar to the preceding 7 or 8 months: I was tired, getting more and more uncomfortable and both anxious and looking forward to the BIG day. I was just surprised it would be that night...

I woke up around 3ish (AM) and was a little concerned when I realized my water had broke. I woke up Ted and let him know and he, in his very groggy state, didn't quite understand. After a few minutes, it kicked in and Ted was up out of bed pacing.....and trying to wipe the sleep out of his eyes. :)

Informing Bart and Jan (remember we were there for another 3 weeks or so as our due date and house completion date were the same) that the "waters had broken!" we were all wide awake when Bart yells out, "WHERE???"

Waiting on the side of the bed for a few minutes in disbelief, Ted asked me what I was doing. I was attempting to gather my thoughts as I was so surprised. I had been chanting to myself multiple times a day that this baby would not come early....by all means, we still had 3 more weeks until our house would even be done. Well he was indeed on his way.

We called my parents that morning informing them that we would be going into the hospital and in my mom's daze she asked,"are you having contractors?" I guess the fact that our house was still being remodeld was weighing heavily on her mind as well. :)

We arrived at the hospital close to 4am and were admitted. Ted had to be sure he had his good luck shirt on:

Soon after being admitted, I was started on Pitocin and comfortable for awhile so we just waited but then the need for some pain meds arrived. My goal was to see how long I could go without needing the "good drugs," but by 11am I requested the epidural. Yet the pain did not subside and the need for more drugs quickly approached. Yet the pain NEVER subsided and so after 45minutes of pushing I was very relieved when I heard the cries of Faris Lokomaika'i Ke'akua Naiuli Douglass entering the world at 1:40 pm - 7 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long.

August 2008

In August Ted and I went up to Sun Valley for his annual soccer tournament a little early so that we could celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary....wow 5 years already. Time really does fly be when you're having fun! :)

Here's a few pictures to take you all back to our big day.
