April

April was a very busy month here at the douglai household.

We continued to "introduce" solids to Ke'akua to no avail and got to prepare for our much anticipated FIRST family trip on a Caribbean Cruise. So much excitement here for us. :) We also had a few playdates with friends and above all, Ted and I have gotten to witness Ke'akua's developmental changes. He laughs and smiles more frequently, he is able to recognize people better, he is able to "respond" to his name and he just continues to grow and grow and grow.....

This month's adventures:

STILL not so sure about this food thing

Playing with Munson boys: Nolan and Baby Jacob

Singing in his chair

Reading with daddy before bed

Playing with his buddy Mister Octotones

Getting ready for the cruise....lots of bucket hats, Ted's favorite :)

Hanging out with Amuma

Chillin' with Uncle Tasi

This month was also my amuma's 80th birthday. We had a surprise birthday party for her at Leku Ona to help her celebrate right with both friends and family from in and out of town. Zorionk amuma...here's to many more happy years filled with plenty of "vacum cleaners." (better known as G&Ts)

March

Well, a couple of months have passed and a lot has been changing here in the Douglai home.

Ke'akua is getting bigger and bigger. :) At his 6 month wellness appointment he was right around 20 lbs (90th percentile). His two bottom teeth are now in, yet he fights us when attempting to introduce solids. The kid hates them...I mean really hates them. Take a look at these pictures:

Not too sure what to think...

Getting ready to cry...

Full blown tears...

And, more tears...

Occasionally, he fakes a cough letting me know that he is choking and he really needs to stop!

The only way thus far I have found that he will eat is when he's in the bath...yes, you read this correct, while taking a bath. You should have seen the pediatrician when I told him that. I know he thinks I'm crazy now. He let me know that in his 40+ years in being a pediatrician this was the first time he had ever heard that. I let him know how happy I was with myself that I was able to introduce to him something he had never heard of. Ridiculous! :) Despite eating in the bath, he still isn't sure what to think.

Besides tormenting him with introducing solids, we have been practicing sitting up as well. We went out and bought a Bumbo chair to assist Ke'akua and to introduce him to a whole new world. He wasn't sure what to think at first, imagine that, but has come to love it.

He is talking to me in this picture trying to find out what in the world I have put him in.

Ke'akua has also gone to more of Ted's girls' soccer games and of course has loved every minute of that as well. This is an outfit that the families of one of the teams that Ted helps coach, bought for Ke'akua (Ted of course loves it!)

Here are a few other pictures from this month:
Hanging out with Amuma and Papa....

A day of shopping and good times with Yasone and Miren. By the way, Ke'akua LOVES to shop. :)

Hanging out on another "spring day in Boise" where a fleece and stocking cap are required.

Here are a few pictures just hanging out at home:

February

Lets see what's happened this month with the Douglai...or really what's new with Ke'akua?

- he LOVES to talk on the phone and sing with all of his music
- he's in awe of his brothers Payton and Ruffus, who with time are letting him "hang out"
- he's rolling over more and more
- sitting in his big boy chair and his high chair
- he is starting to enjoy his Baby Einstein (still alittle intimidated by all the gadgets)
- had some playdates with his buddy Owen Froehlich

Payton finally letting Ke'akua be close to him :) See how much Ke'akua loves his oldest brother?

Not too sure what to think of this thing yet....

Ted and I went to very unique-themed birthday party of our friend Erin Galinato....it was a blast back to high school where everyone dressed up for PROM. Despite really not enjoying dressing up, it was a blast. There were some very creatively dressed people.

A New Year

January was a busy month. Ke'akua is getting bigger and bigger (at his 4mo appt he weighed in at 16lbs and 26 1/4 inches long) and we have been practicing sitting on our own, growing our two front teeth, rolling over and celebrating Ted's, Papa's and Yasone's birthdays. We also got to hang out with our buddy Olive Boyd and Uncle Tasi came back to town to celebrate Papa's birthday with us.

Rolling over??

Ted's birthday with Bart and Jan.

Papa's birthday gift.

Hanging out with Uncle Tasi before he heads back to Vegas.

Celebrating with Yasone on her birthday.

Ke'akua's buddy Olive.

Our first trip to Moscow, Idaho....Go Vandals!

In December we headed up North to Moscow for my cousin Yasone's graduation. It was a fun-filled trip and as we drove into the palouse Ted and I broke out in song:

Came a tribe from the North, brave and bold
Bearing banners of Silver and Gold
Tried and true, to subdue all their foes...(come on sing it with me!)....

Of course Ke'akua loved every minute of that trip and despite not being able to visit The Club, he was glad to be able to see the town where Ted and I first met....

See how excited he was....sleeping AGAIN!
